Step 1: Ask your friend to write a number corresponding to the money in dollars
Step 2: Ask him to multiply with 2
Step 3: Ask him to add 1
Step 4: Ask him to multiply with 5
Step 5: Ask him to tell the result
Step 6: Cancel the unit place 5 of the result in your mind and reveal the money
  Secret Always you get 5 in the units place of the result.
Step 1: Let the money in your friend’s pocket be $25
Step 2: Multiply 25 x 2 = 50
Step 3: Add 1 to 50, we get 50 +1 = 51
Step 4: Multiply with 5, we 51 x 5 = 255
Step 5: Cancel the units place 255
Hence the money in your friend’s pocket is $25
 
  Algebraic Explanation:
  1. 2 x X = 2X
  2. 2X + 1
  3. (2X+1) x 5 = 10X + 5
  4. 10X + 5
  5. 10X
